Cupcakes!

When Mr. Stinkerpants and I decided to tie the knot, we were kinda thinking about doing cupcakes instead of cake, but we weren’t too attached to the idea. We decided to pick whichever ended up to be cheaper. Well, they ended up to cost about the same, and we decided to go with cupcakes. Why? BECAUSE CUPCAKES ARE FREAKIN’ DELICIOUS. Plus, they are very cute and fun, which kind of fits in with our personalities and our theme.

Typically, people who “cupcake” their weddings decide to use cupcake towers, with a little cutting cake on the top. I really like this one, from Bakery Bar in Portland, Oregon:

However, Mr. Cream Puff and I fell in love with the displays at Sibby’s Cupcakery in San Mateo:

We really loved the idea of different cake stands with different levels. Sibby’s rents out these stands, but they were $15 each. At that price, I figured I could buy some and get to keep them after we’re done. My mom and I went to a few thrift stores and found a couple of milk glass cake stands…but they weren’t cheap (about $30 each). To try and buy all milk glass would break the bank.

Then I had the genius idea to turn a glass upside down (or use a candle stick) and place a glass plate on top. They can be secured with epoxy and then, voila! Cake stands! There are TONS of awesome glasses and glass plates in antique stores, and I am really excited with what we got. We also decided to buy the two milk glass cake stands–they were too awesome to say no to. Check out our little display:

The two tiered milk glass one is actually kind of deceiving. The bottom part is an actual cake stand. The top (small) one is actually a milk glass candlestick and a milk glass plate. You might notice that we got a couple of really small plates and placed them on tall champagne glasses. These are for our personal cupcakes. We’re going to get “his” (vanilla) and “hers” (chocolate) giant cupcakes, which we will share instead of cutting the cake. :) Some of the glass is clear, and others are pink or green. I think they will look really cool with light reflecting off of them! Yay!

You. are. a. creative. GENIUS! I love all of the love you put into your wedding, and it’s obvious all the little details really made your wedding your own. Kudos to you and congratulations! (Also, much respect for your decision to “step down” from Weddingbee and standing up for what you believe in.)
