A few months ago, Mr. Stinkerpants and I did a tasting with Global Gourmet, a caterer we were considering. They invited us to see the Green Room set up for a wedding. It. was. breathtaking. I tried to take a couple of pictures with my cell phone, but I totally couldn’t capture it. Raquel, the woman at Global Gourmet, said she’d send us pictures of the event–but she never came through. Thanks to Lisa of BV Weddings, we now have the pictures! It’s even more beautiful than I remembered. Check out these photos, courtesy of Lisa + James Photography. I really wish we could afford to do something like this!

Check out that lighting! And the foliage! And the candles! And the chivari chairs! And the mixture of square and round tables! And the pipe and draping! Just don’t expect my wedding to look like that.

I love the idea of signature cocktails at weddings. It’s a fun way to offer hard alcohol, but not have to pay for a full bar. I love these bright colors!

Unfortunately I downloaded these pictures without also grabbing the info of whom to credit! I’m sorry! Comment here if you know where they came from.

I fell in love with these centerpieces, which I saw here on Faye and Greer’s weblog. I think they’re modern, cool and have the added benefit of being relatively inexpensive.
Sadly, Mr. Stinkerpants shot me down. He said he hates them because they “remind him of the southwest.” I totally disagree, but he hasn’t been very opinionated about anything so far, so I guess I’ll let this one go. Oh, well. Maybe someone else can use it. :)

Or maybe I’ll use them to decorate our house. ;)

Like I’ve said before, I really like the idea of live centerpieces. So when I saw this on Martha Stewart’s website, I thought it was awesome! It looks like it would be pretty simple, too:

How cute is this polka dot ribbon for a boutonniere?! Why not add a little fun in unexpected places?

We’re going to have some extra tables, I’m sure of it! I’m wondering what we should do for the guestbook table…and the table with the escort cards.
This might be possible to do with fake flowers:

Maybe a combo of the previous and this, with the hanging flowers:

I really like how these topiaries are connected with a little banner:

This is purdy:

I love these pictures! From the engagement session and the wedding. Cute!

Both of these are from Jessica Claire photography. Man, is she ever talented!
Mr. Stinkerpants really likes this one:

Bright colors! Yay!

From knottie JusLOVEli, who is awesome… This is what I plan to do with the bouquets…mine will be bright, and my beautiful ladies will have white. I think this is a cute picture.

Today I was messing around on the internet when I found photographer Jessica Claire, from LA. MAN is she good! As I was searching through her blog, I ran across this photo of an orchid centerpiece:

I have been talking to florists recently about doing centerpieces, and although they are reasonably priced for flowers, they’re still about $55 per table for the low ones. These orchids look very classy, I think. Maybe it’s the wooden wispy stick things in there? I’m not sure.
Originally we were planning to do orchid centerpieces; we found a place in Half Moon Bay that sells gorgeous orchids for $12-19. Perhaps we can do the tall centerpieces with the florist, and these can be for the other tables? They’re still tall and significantly less expensive. Actually, now that I think about it, those wispy stick things are a lot like the branches we intend to use in our tall centerpieces, which would really tie the centerpieces together well.
I really like the idea of using something ALIVE for a centerpiece. I get to feeling really guilty when I think about all the flowers that sacrifice their lives for weddings!
PS, if you’re into calla lilies and looking for a somewhat less expensive centerpieces, check this one out. It’s similar to the orchids, with the curly willow (that’s curly willow, right?):

I have officially started e-stalking Lisa of BV Weddings, mostly because I met her today and the learned that she had a blog, which I didn’t know before! I am now stealing her images for my own inspiration!
I’m trying to find non-floral centerpieces, because they’re cheaper and easier. Here’s one she had on her blog:

We’ve also been thinking about doing potted orchids for a very long time, but I was struggling with a way to make them look elegant. I’m not sure if these are potted or cut, but these look beautiful! I have always loved how plants look when you can see the soil through glass pots.

Today I went to a flower workshop at Huckleberry Karen’s house. She is so awesome! I wish she could do flowers for my wedding. :( But I’ll be happy just making a new friend! I saw that she had a container of these in her apartment, and thought that they might be nice for centerpieces as well:

Oh look, it’s me and the bouquet I made!

And, as if this post weren’t already too long, a couple more inspirations:

You know how I love color:

I’ve made a very delicious decision. We’re going to give out Cadbury mini eggs as favors–they’re my all-time favorite candy, and Mr. Stinkerpants gave me a one-pound bag when we first met because I told him how much I loved them. Now comes the really fun job of picking out presentation! I love this stuff. Check out these awesome designs I’ve been collecting (crap, I just realized I’ve been slacking on writing down where these came from!):
