Stinkerpants Illustrations plus Lettergirl Calligraphy equals MAGIC!

I'm going to share a secret with you guys: for the past few years, I have had envy in my heart. Envy for the beautiful handwriting of calligraphers like Paperfinger and Plurabelle. I really felt like fun calligraphy would add a lot to my artwork...but try as I might, I couldn't get my handwriting to do anything even remotely beautiful.

When I decided to re-brand Stinkerpants and have my website redesigned, I knew that I wanted a new logo. I wanted something special that really fit the Stinkerpants brand. When I came across the calligraphy of Gina (aka lettergirl), I knew I'd found the gal for me.

Luckily, Gina agreed to do my logo, and it was everything I'd dreamed of and more!

Then a couple of months ago, a new client contacted me and asked me to make a giant version of my wish tree print for a rehearsal dinner. When she inquired about using the font I'd used for my logo, the wheels in my head started turning...maybe I could start working with Gina on a more regular basis!

Lucky for me, Gina was enthuiastic and agreed to offer her calligraphy services to my clients! Just recently, I completed my first wedding invitation featuring Gina's calligraphy. I think it's really, really special:

Plus, I just love doing letterpress! It's a fun challenge that takes me outside my normal day-to-day drawings.

In addition to offering calligraphy to my custom clients, I am also excited to be working with Gina on my clothing line, as well. I woke up from a sound sleep at 3am a couple of months ago - and for once, Charlie wasn't to blame! I thought to myself, "GINA NEEDS TO DO THE CALLIGRAPHY FOR THE CLOTHING LINE. IT WILL BE MAGICAL." It was all I could do not to run to the computer right then!

I'm excited to say that the designs for the "Word Play™" line have now been re-worked to include Gina's calligraphy. And I think they're totally cool.

Save the Date: Angela & Hayden Illustrated in a Boat

When Angela contacted me and told me she'd like to be rowing a boat with her fiancé and her dog, I was thrilled. I absolutely love how her drawing turned out!

Angela also asked that I turn their Save the Dates into a wedding theme.  Here's an example of how I can easily change a larger drawing into an image that can be put on pretty much anything from out of town bags to water bottle labels:

Stats:

What they asked for:
The couple and their dog in a boat on the lake where they'll be getting married, with their wedding venue (the boat house) in the background.

Save the Date: Ryan & Kyle

One of my favorite parts of my job is the people I "meet." My clients tend to be really fun and creative, and generally have a sense of humor, too. Ryan and Kyle were certainly no exception to this, as you can see from their Save the Date below.

I'm sure you can see why this is one of my favorite Save the Dates of all time! I think their kitties are pretty much the funniest thing ever. I heart them.

Stats:

What they asked for:
The couple standing in front of the famous Castro Theater with their two cats, as if they were about to see a movie.

The OMG this is gonna be so cute!! Moment:
The kitties' 3D glasses and tickets

Tammy & Sean: Illustrated Wedding Theme

I was so flattered to be contacted by Tammy as the very first step in her wedding planning.  She and her fiancé didn't know much about their wedding, but they did know they wanted to build it around a Stinkerpants theme.  What a compliment!

For this drawing, we included a few details to let you know what city they're in (it doesn't get much more "Seattle" than the Space Needle and Mt. Rainier, does it?), but focused mainly on the couple and their adorable pooch.

Stats:

What they asked for: Seattle skyline; warm clothes to show their friends & family at home in Hawaii how cold they are!
The OMG this is gonna be so cute!! Moment:  Hopper the dog's smile, Tammy's scarf
