Thoughtful Last Minute Gifts

I don’t know about you, but the month or so leading up to The Holidays seems to go at WARP SPEED.  I always think, “I still have time to get a gift,” and then before I know it, it’s too late to order something online.  This is especially true for people like my husband and my father, who are notoriously hard to buy for because they seem to have everything.

An awesome gift for people who are hard to buy for is a family portrait. This year, I worked on several family portraits as holiday gifts, including this super cute one of the P Family:

illustrated family portrait people and dogs

The daughters split the cost of the family portrait as a gift for their parents.  What a thoughtful idea!  I’m sure their parents will love it (and I can’t wait to hear their reaction!).

It’s too late to have an actual portrait finished by the holidays, because the design and printing process can take up to six weeks.  But it’s definitely NOT too late for a family portrait gift certificate!  I will work directly with your friend or family member to create a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork of their entire family (or of anything they want, actually).

The Family Portrait gift certificate is $300 and covers both the cost of the drawing and printing in any size they want on high quality art paper or canvas.

Each gift certificate is printed on thick, beautiful art paper and presented in a fun, colorful envelope.  I’ll send the gift certificate to you, or directly to the recipient.  And for those of you who are SUPER late?  I can send you a full resolution image of the gift certificate to be printed out on your home printer and presented to your loved one moments later. I’m Jewish, so feel free to contact me as late as Christmas morning–I’ll have the image to you in no time.  ;)

See?  Last minute gifts can still be thoughtful!

New: Family Portraits!

On our wedding day, Y and I wanted to give one another something really special and unique–not a piece of jewelry that could be given for any special occasion, or an iPod that will be obsolete in a few years.  We wanted to be romantic and sentimental, and do our wedding day justice.  I think the best “day of” gifts are simple, sweet and creative.

Awhile ago, I started thinking about wedding day gifts, and I came up with what I think would be a great gift: an illustrated family portrait.  I suddenly got really excited; a family portrait is a fun piece of artwork to grace your home for years to come, and it can also have a lot of sentimental value by including thoughtful details about what makes you you.

The drawing above is an example of a family portrait I did for a past client.  In addition to your family name, you could also have your wedding date, the day you met, or any other detail included.  As your family grows, you could even add more family members (pets and humans alike!), creating a wall of artwork that changes with the years.

Obviously, these family portraits don’t have to be “day of” wedding gifts.  They’d also be an awesome gift for the holidays, or to celebrate a pregnancy.

After all, I’m not sure there’s a better sentiment than, “I’m so excited to start a family with you!”

I am finally getting back into the swing of things after a nice trip with my mom to Los Angeles.  Memorial Day weekend was very fun–I hope you all had a great time too!

I am VERY excited about the topic of this blog post, as it’s been a long time coming.

I finally have the Stinkerpants Alphabet Poster in my hot little hands.  And I am so pleased with the quality!

The poster is printed on artist quality Epson poster paper, with a gorgeous Luster Gloss finish.  The finished poster measures 18″ by 24″ and would be the perfect addition to any room (if I do say so myself!).  It’s available in the Stinkerpants Shop or in my etsy shop.

Also available in my etsy shop are framed versions of the alphabet prints, for people who don’t want to deal with finding a frame (which is pretty much everybody, right?!  Let’s be honest here.).  The frames come in black, brown and white, and include the print.  Framed prints are $30 each.

So that’s what I’ve been up to recently!  I hope you guys like them!

Please tell everyone you know if you do–I’d really appreciate it!!

And a special thanks to Lisa + James Photography for taking the awesome product photos!

The Alphabet Prints are Finished!

il_430xn67387538.jpg

Whew!  I’ve finally completely finished all of the alphabet prints.  Over the past few days, I’ve been working on adding a couple of other options for a few letters, too.  For example, there are now:

Two options for B (Big Blimp and Bashful Bumblebee):

Three options for E (Enormous Eggplant, and a boy & girl version of Endearing Elephant):

Two options for P (Parachuting Penguin and Perfect Pancakes):

Etsy Shop and New ABC prints

a.jpg

I have an announcement to make.

I am excited, nervous and relieved to announce this, because it has been on my To Do list for AGES.

I now have an Etsy shop

My clients have been asking me to open a shop for quite awhile now, and rather than wait for a ton of products, I’ve decided to do a bit of a soft-launch.  I’m starting things off with a few prints from my latest adventure: ABC prints.  I’ve been told time and time again to “do stuff for kids!”  Well, here I go.  I hope you like them!

So far I have A-O finished, and I’m working on the remaining letters.  I am selling these as prints right now, but have plans to do flashcards, too.  Click here to check out the rest of the letters!

The Etsy shop is going to have a definite learning curve for me, because I have no idea what to offer.  Thus, I am begging you for your help: I am looking for ANY and ALL suggestions.  And if you think something is ugly, tell me!  You can’t insult me.  :)

What would you like to see in my Etsy shop?  THANK YOU!  I love you guys.
